This place was a gem in the late 90's in Nolita. The neighborhood was a little sketchy and there weren't a bunch a prissy people prancing around. I remember reading chapter after chapter in there and dreaming of songs for my first project. There used to be these twins guys there all the time with their beautiful European Motorcycles, they have a band called "Blonde Redhead". Neighborhood's change fast in NY and can't rely on having your favorite seat next to the window for long. Gitane is owned by one of my favorite men in all of the city, the ageless "Luc" from Morocco.
